Choosing the right tool

Tool vendors often promise you the moon, but how do you know if a tool works? It’s time to take action and start testing yourself. About half a day a week I spend trying out tools. I usually start from a business issue, both my own and those of clients, and look for appropriate solutions. Sometimes, I stumble upon a fantastic tool I want to try out immediately.

Testing tools are necessary to determine if they meet your expectations. Here are four tips to help you make the right choice:

1. Understand the User Interface

The User Interface (UI) is essential. A good tool should be intuitive and easily understood, even within minutes. Most tools perish even at this first step. They promise a lot but don’t deliver. Recently, I have been disappointed with Buffer and SocialPilot because their UI did not meet my expectations.

2. Examine the most important features

Many tools promise great features but do not deliver what they promise. I have often been disappointed with Expandi’s praised dashboard feature, which, in reality, did not meet my expectations. Finding out if the tool solves the problem you want to address is crucial. Think from the real-world perspective and not just from the developers’ perspective. For example, PhantomBuster and TexAu have great features but are not user-friendly. On the other hand, Microsoft Dynamics integrates excellently with the Microsoft Suite, but I don’t find it convenient to use. By the way, this also applies to SalesForce. On the other hand, Pipedrive, HubSpot, and Zoho are much more convenient for anyone who wants to be in control.

3. Assess effectiveness

Most importantly, the tool solves the problem conveniently. But at the same time, you also want the tool to integrate well with other tools you use. Are integration options available or still being developed? If this is missing, it’s a no-go. We live in a time when tools need to be able to communicate and collaborate.

4. Test, test, test!

It can be frustrating to find the perfect tool that meets all your requirements. Often you want a combination of the best features of different tools. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. It takes time and patience to make the right choice. After all, you want top of the bill. But remember, as a sales professional, I’ve done all the necessary preliminary work and tested tools. This saves you precious time.

Want to use a new tool? Then, use these four tips to weigh different tools and make the right choice. But what if you don’t feel like searching and testing yourself? Don’t worry, I’m here to help you. On the big bad Internet, you can always turn to me for advice and support.

Selecting the right tool is crucial to the success of your business. By testing thoroughly and applying the tips above, you can ensure that you find the tool that best suits your needs. Remember that a tool is more than just fancy promises on a website. The important thing is that it actually works and makes your work more efficient and effective.

So get started, test different tools, and take the time to evaluate them thoroughly. It is worth the investment of time and effort to eventually find the right tool that will take your sales process to the next level. And if you can’t figure it out, know I’m always available to help you make the best choice.
